Safety Rules

Last updated: October 12, 2026

In a life-threatening emergency, call 911 first.

Then call us at 703-507-2767 for towing and roadside help.

While You Wait for Roadside Help

  • Pull over as far from traffic as possible. Use the shoulder or a safe parking lot.
  • Turn on your hazard lights and, if safe, set out reflective triangles or flares.
  • Stay in your vehicle with your seat belt on if you are on a highway or busy road.
  • If you must exit, use the side away from traffic and stand well off the road behind a guardrail.
  • Never stand between your vehicle and traffic, or behind your vehicle.
  • At night, keep your dome light on so approaching drivers can see you.

When Our Driver Arrives

  • Confirm the driver's company name and truck markings before handing over keys.
  • Keep children and pets in a safe place away from the truck and traffic.
  • Follow the driver's instructions and stay clear of the hookup and loading area.
  • Do not attempt to help with winching, chains, or lifting. Our operators are trained for it.
  • Put your vehicle in neutral and release the parking brake only when the driver asks you to.

Passengers in Towed Vehicles

For safety and legal reasons, passengers may not ride in a vehicle while it is being towed. Ask the driver whether a seat is available in the tow truck cab. Seating is limited and not guaranteed.

Fire, Fuel Leaks, and Hazards

  • If you see smoke, flames, or smell fuel, get everyone away from the vehicle and call 911.
  • Do not smoke or use open flames near a vehicle.
  • Tell us about any fluid leaks, damaged tires, or electrical problems when you call.

Jump Starts and Battery Safety

  • Turn off the ignition, lights, and accessories before a jump start.
  • Do not attempt to jump a battery that is cracked, leaking, or frozen.
  • Keep sparks, flames, and cigarettes away from batteries.

Bad Weather and Winter Conditions

During snow, ice, heavy rain, or flooding, response times may be longer. Never drive into standing water. If you are stranded in cold weather, run the engine only briefly and keep the tailpipe clear of snow to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.

Our Safety Commitment

Our trucks are maintained and our operators are trained to secure every vehicle properly, use safe loading methods, and work with warning lights and safety equipment. We reserve the right to delay or decline service if conditions put you, our driver, or the public at risk.
